Trail Patrol Committee
Jeff Dunn and Gene Rector, Co-Chairs

Trail Patrol Members of the Patrol Committee hike primarily the Forest Service system trails in small groups or with just one other person. Many husband and wife teams make up this committee.

The primary focus as Patrol members hike the trails is contact with the public, striving to help make their visit enjoyable. Patrol members will answer questions the visitor might have and quite often give directions or suggestions for other hikes.

After each patrol a report is made recording the number of hikers, bikers, backpackers and pets that were observed and contacted. Litter is packed out and trail damage and trail needs are recorded. Some of these repairs, like brushing or limb removal, are accomplished by the person patrolling. With the increase of trail usage our presence and the information we provide is vital to the Forest Service in maintaining the hundreds of miles of trails within our forest.
