Visitor Information Services Committee
Barb Zeschke, Susan Vitek, Matt Knittle, Co-Chairs
While some Friends enjoy challenges of building trails or spending hours
patrolling the beautiful forest trails, others prefer less vigorous activities.
One such opportunity is VIS.
VIS was established to meet the ever growing need
for accurate and concise information about recreation on the Coconino National
Forest around Sedona. The Friends have worked closely with Forest Service personnel
at the Sedona Ranger Station for years.
With the opening of the Gateways their
ranks were asked to expand to also cover the South Gateway. VIS volunteers are at the front desk five
days a week, two shifts a day. Each volunteer commits to one half day a week or
are on the substitute list, filling in for regular committee members when necessary.
