DESCRIPTION:Do you know what to do in case of a woodland fire? Or best practices to prevent a wildland fire? The Sedona Fire District\, along with their community partners\, will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday\, April 2nd from 4pm – 6pm at Sedona Performing Arts Center (995 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd). Below is more specific information taken directly from a city press release. \nThe Sedona Fire District and its partners invite all residents in the Sedona area to a community meeting on wildfire preparedness (see above for date\, time\, and location). \nMore specifically\, residents in the Oak Creek Canyon\, Sedona city limits\, Village of Oak Creek\, Red Rock Loop Road and Forest Road 525 areas will hear a presentation from a panel of representatives from the Sedona Fire District\, the city of Sedona\, Yavapai and Coconino counties\, the Coconino National Forest\, Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management\, Arizona Public Service (APS) and Arizona Water Company on topics such as: \n\nEvacuation planning\nThe Know Your Zone effort\nReady\, Set\, Go knowledge and emergency preparedness\nFirewise proactive steps to take\nWildfire fuel types in Sedona versus other areas\nWater pressure and fire hydrant capacity in Sedona\nPower line inspections\, vegetation management\, wildfire monitoring technology and the limited APS Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program for the Oak Creek Canyon and Forest Road 525 areas\nEmergency alerts from the city and counties to sign up for\n\nAdditionally\, after the presentation\, there will be a Q and A session for residents to ask questions. \n“The goal of this community meeting is to talk about the inherent risk of wildfire in our community\, to learn about what each of our partner organizations are doing to be prepared if there’s a wildfire here and what you can do as a resident to be ready in case of an emergency\,” said Sedona Fire District Chief Ed Mezulis. \nTo learn more about emergency management and wildfire programming from each of the organizations ahead of the meeting\, see: \n\nSedona Fire District: www.sedonafire.org/public-education-outreach/#wildfire\nCity of Sedona: www.sedonaaz.gov/emergencymanagement\nYavapai County: www.yavapaiready.gov\nCoconino County: www.coconino.az.gov/ready\nAPS: www.aps.com/wildfiresafety\nArizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management Firewise program: https://dffm.az.gov/fire/prevention/firewise
