Volunteer for Motorized Environmental Restoration
Motorized Environmental Restoration is FOF’s newest Committee on paper, but the work has been going on for years under Special Projects and Trail Maintenance & Construction. Just like obliterating social trails on non-motorized trails due to the increased volume of visitors, the Forest Service recognized the need to dedicate resources on a regular basis to maintaining and restoring the integrity of the surrounding habitats along the motorized trails. Similar to maintaining non-motorized terrain, FOF will help with proper drainage, trail (non-motorized and now motorized too) delineation, proper signage, informative kiosks, and habitat restoration.
Projects range from strenuous activities like installing fencing and kiosks or creating proper drainage to maintaining the wildlife habitats, to less physically-taxing work like replanting and reseeding areas adjacent to the roads.
