Be A Friends of the Forest Ambassador

While some Friends enjoy challenges of building trails or spending hours patrolling the beautiful forest trails, others prefer less vigorous activities with climate control. One such opportunity is VIS (Visitor Information Services).
The Red Rock Ranger Station has an amazing Visitor Center where the Friends work closely the Forest Service personnel. Visitors and locals alike enjoy learning about the area’s many scenic wonders and world class recreation opportunities.
The Friends support the Forest Service staff by volunteering to work in the “bull-pen” at the Visitor Center. The volunteers work in 4-hour shifts alongside the Rangers each morning and afternoon, six and a half days a week all year round. The exceptions are Wednesday mornings when the Visitor Center is closed and holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. After training, each volunteer may commit to a regular weekly shift or may choose to sign up for open shifts and filling in where needed.
